US issues China, India, 7 other states licences to trade with Iran

THE US has issued China, India and seven other countries licences to trade with Iran and the US without legal risk through a renewal of six-month waivers in exchange for promises to reduce Iranian oil consumption, Reuters reports.

The exemption waivers avoid risk of the US financial system being cut off from trading countries, which include South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Taiwan. This follows the waivers earlier in spring for Japan and 10 EU countries.
